Tens Of Thousands Of Faithful Expected to Attend NY CityFest In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Tens of thousands of Christians are expected to converge on Central Park Saturday for a rally.

Well-known evangelical figures and Yankees great Mariano Rivera are expected to attend the NY CityFest revival on the park's Great Lawn.

Rivera plans to join entertainers Mandisa, Marcos Witt, Matt Redman and Hezekiah Walker at the rally.

More than 1,200 Christian churches of various denominations from the New York area will take part.

Luis Palau, a prominent evangelical Christian figure, will lead the gathering. He's a native of Argentina who's been dubbed the "Latino Billy Graham.''

And Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to address the gathering.

The event is also set to be live-streamed internationally on the Internet.
