Child Musicians Celebrate Birth Of Bach With Subway Platform Concerts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The 330th anniversary of the birth of German composer Johann Sebastian Bach was celebrated on subway platforms throughout New York City Saturday with free concerts.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, all the musicians are children.

"I think Bach would be proud and I also love that they don't ask for money, that it's pure, intrinsic value for the kids to just play this music and have people enjoy it," one listener at Grand Central said.

Many subway riders stopped to enjoy one, two or even three selections, Baumgarten reports.
