Brooklyn Couple Arrested For Allegedly Leaving Their Infant In Car While They Shopped

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A Brooklyn couple is facing charges after they allegedly left their infant in the car while they went shopping, sources told CBS2.

Officers spotted a BMW, apparently unattended, running while parked in the parking lot at the Kings Plaza shopping mall.

When they approached the car, they noticed an infant boy strapped to a car seat in the back of the car, sources said. No one else was present in the car with the boy.

The child's parents returned to the car as officers were attempting to get into it, sources said.

The parents told officers they didn't want to wake the boy, so they left him in the car with the air conditioning on while they went shopping, sources said.

The couple said they had left the boy unattended for about 30 minutes, according to sources.

The couple, a 28 year old woman and 29 year old man, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
