Staten Island Child Care Center Evacuated Due To Fumes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A child care center on Staten Island has been evacuated due to fumes.

About 68 people were examined at the Ivy League Early Learning Academy of Staten Island on Richmond Avenue.

The incident started at around 9:45 a.m.

None of the children became sick, but five adults were examined and later cleared.

The children were taken across the street to a nearby church.

FDNY hazardous materials crews responded to the scene. Results on hazmat tests came back negative.

Officials suspect that paint fumes are the cause of the incident.
