8-Year-Old Boy, 2 Women Hurt In Upper Freehold Crash

UPPER FREEHOLD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey State Police are investigating a head-on collision that left a boy, his mother and another woman injured in Upper Freehold.

The two-vehicle accident, involving a Chevy Silverado and Toyota Corolla, occurred around 9 a.m. Wednesday on County Route 539.

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicles collided head-on, police said.

An 8-year-old boy inside the Corolla was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He and his mother, who was driving the car, were airlifted to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton. Both suffered serious injuries, police said.

The female driver of the Silverado was taken to a New Brunswick hospital with serious injuries, CBS2 reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
