Cervelli Headed To DL; X-Rays On McCann's Hand Come Back Negative
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- So there's good news and there's bad news.
First, the bad news.
Catcher Francisco Cervelli has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain and will be placed on the disabled list on Tuesday. His DL stint is retroactive to Monday.
After taking three our of four from the rival Red Sox, the Bombers are off on Monday before kicking off a two-game series with the Cubs on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
The backup catcher underwent an MRI following the Yankees' victory on Sunday night.
And now, to the good news.
Starting catcher Brian McCann, who was dinged up on in Sunday's series finale, had X-Rays taken on his right hand after the game. The X-rays came back negative and the seven-time All-Star isn't expected to miss any time.
The Yankees have also optioned right-handed pitcher Shane Greene to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Cervelli is batting .188 (3-for-16) with a run, a double and an RBI. McCann, who signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Yanks in the offseason, is hitting .205 with two homers and six RBIs in 12 games.

Yanks sent Shane Greene back to AAA, so will bring up a backup catcher and one more position player before tomorrow's game.
