Ceremony Marks 22nd Anniversary Of 1993 World Trade Center Bombing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A ceremony is being held to mark the 22nd anniversary of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

One Feb. 26, 1993, a rental van filled with explosives blew up in an underground garage at the trade center's north tower, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000 others.

A ceremony will be held Thursday at the 9/11 Memorial, where the six victims' names are inscribed in bronze on the north side of the north reflecting pool alongside the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

An exhibit on the 1993 attack will also open at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Six Islamic extremists were convicted of the bombing. Four were convicted in March 1994 of carrying out the bombing and two others, including mastermind Ramzi Yousef, were convicted in November 1997.
