Family Of Teen Injured in Central Park Explosion Expresses Gratitude
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- The Virginia college student whose leg was severely damaged by a blast in Central Park celebrated his 19th birthday in Bellevue Hospital on Saturday.
Connor Golden lost his left leg below the knee after jumping off a rock and stepping onto some sort of improvised explosive device on Sunday.
The NYPD Bomb Squad said it appeared to be the work of a hobbyist, but they're still unclear of who left it there.
Golden's family released a statement saying, "We and our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the many individuals and institutions that have expressed concern for him and provided invaluable assistance and support since this tragedy."
