Camp-Out Opportunities Available In Central Park, Van Cortlandt Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation is holding a lottery for a chance to camp out in city parks.

The Urban Rangers family camping program will be pitching its tent on Friday, Aug. 21 in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, and on Saturday, Aug. 22 in Central Park.

Thirty spots are available for each location.

The Urban Park Rangers program allows New Yorkers of all ages to discover nature and the outdoors. The program welcomes schoolchildren and teachers through the Natural Classroom, high school students through the Ranger Conservation Corps, adults through the Weekend Adventure program, and groups in search of teambuilding opportunities through the Adventurer Course and Custom Adventures programs.
