Crash Leaves Man Seriously Injured In Centereach

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was seriously injured Wednesday when his vehicle crashed into a guardrail in Centereach, Long Island.

Michael Negron, 35, of Bellport, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer north on Nicolls Road when he apparently lost control and hit the guardrail, Suffolk County police said.

The vehicle entered the median and overturned in the southbound lane, police said. Negron, who was driving alone, was ejected, police said.

Negron was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, and was listed in serious condition, police said.

His vehicle was impounded for a safety check, and the investigation continued late Wednesday. Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to call the Suffolk County Sixth Squad detectives at (631) 854-8652.
