CBS To Debut JonBenet Ramsey Miniseries 20 Years After Unsolved Murder

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- A new CBS miniseries will reexamine the unsolved murder mystery of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey.

"The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey" will shed new light on the unsolved case of the young child whose death captured the attention of the nation.

JonBenet was found dead in the basement of her family's Boulder, Colorado, home on Dec. 26, 1996. Public suspicion immediately focused on the girl's parents, John and Patty Ramsey, and her brother Burke Ramsey.

In 2008, the three were officially cleared by prosecutors who said that DNA found on the girl's underwear didn't match anyone in the family.

The series will include insight from the case's original investigators as well as interviews with new experts who have used modern technology to help determine what may have happened to the victim.

It's unclear how much new information will be presented in the three-part series. "The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey" premieres September 18 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.

The network released a trailer for the highly anticipated docu-series on Wednesday.
