'Cat Camera' Catches Suspected Burglary In Progress In Midtown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A cat camera was set up in a Midtown apartment to keep tabs on the pets while a resident was away – but instead, it recorded a suspected burglar.

The woman who lives in the Hell's Kitchen apartment did not expect to see a video recording of a man entering and ripping off her iPad, Apple MacBook Pro laptop, jewelry and digital camera around 2:20 p.m. Monday.

She believes the thief climbed up the scaffolding on the outside of her building and crawled through the window.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
