Carmelo Anthony Voted NBA All-Star Game Starter Again

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Carmelo Anthony will once again be in the starting lineup when the NBA All-Star game tips off.

The Knicks forward, who has been the subject of recent trade rumors, received the third-most fan votes in the Eastern Conference, behind Miami's LeBron James and Indiana's Paul George. The Heat's Dwayne Wade and Cleveland's Kyrie Irving will join them in the starting lineup for the Feb. 16 game in New Orleans -- just four days before the NBA's trade deadline.

The Lakers' Kobe Bryant, Golden State's Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, the Clippers' Blake Griffin and Minnesota's Kevin Love will start for the Western Conference.

Anthony is appearing in his seventh All-Star game, and this year will mark his sixth start. Through 39 games this season, Anthony is averaging 26.1 points and 9 rebounds per game. His scoring average is third best in the NBA.

Curry, Love, George and Irving will all make their first starts in an All-Star game.

Bryant, who has been limited to just six games this season because of injuries, was elected by fans to his 16th All-Star game, second most in NBA history.

James was the overall leading vote-getter with 1.4 million votes. Durant, who had the most votes in the Western Conference, finished with just 20,000 fewer votes than James.

The reserves will be announced next Thursday.
