Several people hurt, including 2 children, when car jumps curb in Crown Heights, Brooklyn
NEW YORK -- Police say a car jumped a curb Wednesday morning in Brooklyn and injured several people.
Surveillance video shows people crossing the street at St. John's Place and Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights around 7:45 a.m. A bus goes by, then a car jumps the curb.
As CBS2's Leah Mishkin reports, several people were hit when the car careened into a bar on the corner.
"It's so scary," said Ruth Deaton, who works at a café nearby. "We didn't really hear the actual crash. We just noticed all the sirens coming by ... I hope everyone's OK."
The FDNY says six people were injured. The injuries range from minor to serious, but we're told all are not life-threatening.
Deaton went outside to see what was going on.
"We saw people on the ground and stuff. It was scary for sure," she said.
The NYPD says among the people hurt are a 48-year-old father and his two sons, ages 9 and 11.
Police say the driver of the car was arrested.
The area has since been cleared, and the building is now boarded up. This crash remains under investigation.
It's still unclear what charges have been filed against the driver of the car.
