Vehicle Strikes Suffolk County Police Cruiser, Slams Into Long Island Home

NORTH BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A car struck a Suffolk County police cruiser Friday, then slammed into a Long Island home, sparking a fire.

It happened at the intersection of Woods Road and Elkton Lane in North Babylon.

The officer was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

The other driver was also taken to a local hospital.

Both are expected to survive.

Police continue to investigate what led to the crash.

No one inside the house was hurt.
