Captain America Statue Unveiled In Prospect Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Brooklyn is paying tribute to a hometown hero.

A 13-foot bronze statue of Captain America was dedicated in Prospect Park on Wednesday in celebration of the comic book character's 75th birthday.

It features the quote, "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn," which Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, said in the movie "Captain America: The First Avenger."

The party will continue Wednesday evening with a special screening of "Captain America: Civil War" in the park.

The statue debuted at Comic Con in San Diego in July.

It will stand in Prospect Park for two weeks before moving to Barclays Center in September.

In October, the statue will go to the new Bed Bath & Beyond in Sunset Park.
