Mother: P.K. Subban's Puck Toss Into Crowd Gave Baby Concussion

MONTREAL (CBSNewYork)Montreal Canadiens superstar P.K. Subban's well-meaning gesture apparently landed a baby in the hospital.

Following a public practice Sunday, Subban and other Canadiens players tossed pucks to young fans in the Bell Centre crowd. One puck struck a 1-month-old girl in the head and gave her a concussion, the infant's mother said on Facebook.

The little girl, Beatrice Meloche, spent the night in the hospital for observation and was released Monday, the mother said.

Subban and the Canadiens were not aware of the situation until they saw media reports the day after the practice.

"P.K. feels terrible, but he had no idea," Canadiens spokesman Donald Beauchamp told the Montreal Gazette. "He felt terrible at first, then he felt really happy to hear that all was good."

Beauchamp added that Subban is looking forward to meeting the family.
