Cab Drivers Line Up At Repair Shops To Fix Damage From Potholes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- While some are still digging their cars out of snow banks following Thursday's storm, cab drivers are dealing the fallout from potholes that have taken over New York City streets.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported Saturday, as many as a dozen cabs lined up on Tenth Avenue near 34th Street in front of Downtown Tire to fix flats and damage to their cabs due to potholes.

The long lines have been present for days and not just at Downtown Tire, but other repair shops across the city as well.

For cab driver Namul, this was his second fix within a week, Baumgarten reported.

"It's so bad. It damages the car. I'm a cab driver and I'm suffering for the last one week. It damages a lot," Namul said.

To add insult to injury, Namul said when the weather gets bad, people don't venture out, which cuts into his profits.

Cab driver Mia said there are so many potholes on the roads, you can't avoid them. "There are so many potholes on the road. Big problem in the city right now."

Stopping to get a fix costs money, both for repairs and time spend off the roads.
