Man Shot, Wounded By Police In Butler, New Jersey

BUTLER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Butler, New Jersey opened fire and shot a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at them.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at a home on West Belleview Avenue near Boonton Avenue in Butler, police told CBS2.

Witnesses at the scene said the man who pointed the gun was a 23-year-old man who has a history of breaking into homes.

They said police were looking for the man when he came out of his house pointing the gun at the officers.

Police shot the man multiple times.

There was no word on his condition late Thursday.
