Burst Water Main Creates Icy Conditions On Lower East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Crews are on the scene of a water main break on the Lower East Side.

A 12-inch water main burst early Saturday morning at Pitt and Rivington streets.

All the water has caused icy conditions in the area. The Department of Sanitation was called in to salt down roads in an effort to the stop icing over of streets, 1010 WINS reported.

Department of Environmental Protection crews are working to fix the water main, CBS2 reported.

Water service was shut down between Delancy and Stanton streets, but no residents were affected by the shutdown, 1010 WINS reported.
