Burglars Strike Restaurant On MacDougal Street In Greenwich Village

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were searching Tuesday night for two burglars who broke into a restaurant on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village and made off with $1,000.

Around midnight on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 31, the suspects entered the restaurant at 79 MacDougal St. while it was closed and took the money from the restaurant office before running off, police said.

Police did not mention the name of the restaurant, but the Mermaid Inn Oyster Bar is located at the MacDougal Street address.

One of the suspects appeared to be carrying a black handgun at the time of the incident. police said No one was injured.

Police have released surveillance video of suspects in the incident.
