Brush Fire Spreads Over 5 Acres In Morris County, N.J.

EAST HANOVER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A brush fire was raging Tuesday afternoon not far from homes in Morris County, New Jersey.

As Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, about five acres were burning between Route 280 and Route 10, in Hanover and East Hanover, late Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was largely contained as of 5 p.m., but there was some concern about homes on some nearby local streets in East Hanover, including Troy Road and Melanie Lane.

Crews were lighting smaller controlled fires to keep the larger blaze away, Biermann reported. Many residents were seen in their backyards watching the blaze.
