Brother Of Jogger Who Died After Collapsing In Prospect Park, Dies While Jogging In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The half-brother of a man who collapsed while running in Prospect Park on New Year's Eve and died a week later has also died.

Peter Berry, 60, the half-brother of author Rynn Berry, 68, suffered a heart attack after jogging in Central Park Jan. 19, DNAinfo reported.

Berry died 10 days after his brother died at New York Methodist Hospital.

Rynn Berry collapsed while running in the iconic Brooklyn Park with no ID on him, and had been unidentified for nearly a week when his photo was circulated with various tubes attached to him.

Berry's brother had come forward after media reports showed a photograph of the man in a hospital bed with various tubes attached to him.

Rynn Berry was a known expert on vegetarianism and veganism, and served as a historical advisor to the North American Vegetarian Society.

He had published several books, including "the Vegan Guide to New York City," "Fruits of Tantalus," "Food for the Gods: Vegetarianism and the World's Religions," "Famous Vegetarians and Their Favorite Recipes," "The New Vegetarians," and "Hitler: Neither a Vegetarian nor an Animal Lover," according to his website.

A memorial service for Peter Berry will be held at St. James Church, 865 Madison Ave., on Jan. 27 at 4 p.m., DNAinfo reported.

He is survived by his three children.
