Worker Killed, 7 Others Injured When Wall Collapses At Construction Site In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A retaining wall collapsed at a construction site, killing a worker and injuring seven others in Brooklyn Thursday morning.

The collapse took place at Myrtle Avenue near Franklin Avenue at 11:38 a.m. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

"Cinderblocks and various parts of the wall were removed, and they were extricated that way," said Deputy Chief Patrick Clifford of the FDNY.

A 19-year-old worker was rushed to Brooklyn Hospital but died. Two other seriously injured workers were taken to Kings County Hospital where they are in stable condition.

The rest of had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
