Police: Child Found Safe After Vehicle Theft In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect is in custody after police say a car was stolen in Brooklyn with a 2-year-old girl inside.

It happened just before 4 p.m. Friday on 30th Street and Third Avenue in Greenwood Heights.

Police say a woman was loading the child into the parked vehicle when a man approached her, telling her to get the kid out of the car.

But police say she didn't move fast enough and the suspect took off with the 2-year-old in the back seat.

Officers caught up with him on the BQE and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Tyler Hall, from London, New Hampshire.

Hall is facing a number of charges, including robbery, vehicular assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The little girl was not harmed.
