Witness: Car Rolls Away From Tow Truck, Hits Utility Pole In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A witness said a car rolled off a flatbed tow truck and struck a pole in Flatlands, Brooklyn Tuesday night, leaving wires hanging but causing no injuries.

The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. outside 1270 East 51st St. in Brooklyn, the FDNY said.

Witness Jeff Pearl said he heard two loud crashes and went out to check on his own car.

"I noticed that this big truck was carrying the flatbed… and it had a car on it – and from what I understand, there were two loud crashes there, and from what I understand, they disengaged, and that car rolled off and hit the telephone pole," Pearl said, "and the lights went out, and the pole started to tilt."

Hanging wires were reported, but there were no injuries, the FDNY said.

Pearl said there had been "plenty of accidents" on the same corner before.
