Teen Charged In Killing Of Couple Found Dead In Brooklyn Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A teenager has been charged in the killing of a couple found dead in a Brooklyn apartment.

Destiny Garcia, 15, has been charged with two counts of second degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The bodies were discovered around 7 p.m. Sunday in a fifth floor apartment in the Sheepshead Bay Houses on Batchelder Street, police said.

Investigators said the victims, 39-year-old Rosie Sanchez and 40-year-old Anderson Nunez, both had gunshot wounds. Nunez had also been stabbed, police said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents were in disbelief.

"It's just terrible," one neighbor told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond. "Really, really bad stuff."

Police spent the night questioning a teenager at the 72nd Precinct, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.

Police said she confessed to the alleged crime to a cousin. The teen told investigators that she was being sexually assaulted by the boyfriend and that her mother didn't listen, police said.

Authorities believe the girl shot her mom while a second person killed Nunez.

"It's just sad that the girl had to go through this," the neighbor said. "And hey parents, if your kids tell you something -- pay attention cause this is what can happen."
