27-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Inside Brooklyn Store

Updated Sunday, Oct. 2 9:55 a.m.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a Brooklyn store Saturday afternoon.

Flatbush residents who buy their phone cards and lottery tickets in Bedford Technology were shocked to hear a 27-year-old woman was killed inside the tiny store, 1010 WINS' Samantha Liebman reported.

"It's very sad," one customer said. "I won't go in there again, I'm scared."

"It's terrible, I can't believe it," another customer said.

Deneisha Smith's body was found just before 1 p.m. Saturday with neck trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine cause of death.

Police believe the victim worked at the store, and customers believe they know who it is because only three women work there.

"She's such a nice, humble person. I don't know why someone would want to hurt her," another customer said.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
