Brooklyn Science Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing 5 Students

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A recently removed teacher has been arrested on charges that he sexually abused five students at a school in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

Omil Carrasquillo was a cluster science teacher at P.S. 249, at 18 Marlborough Rd. in Brooklyn, which has students from kindergarten through fifth grade.

He was arrested and charged in connection with incidents that occurred on campus, police said Wednesday night.

Carrasquillo had worked for the Department of Education since 2006, the department said.

He was removed immediately when the allegations surfaced, and his last day was Friday, the department said.

"These allegations are disturbing and we removed Mr. Carrasquillo immediately; he is not near any students," the department said in a statement. "We are investigating the matter and supporting this school community."
