NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn mother is facing charges after allegedly leaving her three young sons home alone.

Jasmine Torres has been charged with three counts of child endangerment after members of the FDNY found her 1-year-old, 2-year-old, and 4-year-old home alone in their Crown Heights apartment, 1010 WINS's Roger Stern reported.

The FDNY was called to the apartment building after a neighbor reported water leaking into their apartment from above, Stern reported.

The FDNY knocked on Torres' apartment door and gained entry, only to discover the children home alone.

"I heard them talking, asking whoever to open the door. Apparently they were kids, they were just the kids there. So apparently they got in and I was sitting there, then I saw her walking into the building," a neighbor said.

Police said the children were left unattended for about 45 minutes.
