Brooklyn Man Loses Bumper To Ice Trying To Move SUV From Parking Spot

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- As New Yorkers brace for another possible winter storm, there are still some spots in the city where people are struggling to dig out from last week's snow.

As Jose Lopez tried to move his SUV out of a parking spot on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, the huge ice built up around the vehicle ripped off his front bumper, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported on Monday.

"This is the main street in Crown Heights and look how it looks, no good, not at all," Lopez said. "We're living in the jungle here."

His neighbor Angela said she hasn't been able to move her car in a week.

"It made no sense trying to get out, we were all snowed in. Tires, everything had snow. Cars passed by, pushed the snow up on your tires and I could not even get into the car," she said.

The Department of Sanitation sent a crew to spread salt on Eastern Parkway following Schuck's report on Monday.

The city said people haven't moved their cars because alternate side parking has been suspended a week and are now struggling to free their vehicles from ice and snow.

This winter has been challenging for many New Yorkers.

Three storms have hit the area since last Monday and more snow is possible late Wednesday night, according to AccuWeather. There is also potential for a major winter storm Thursday.
