Mail Mystery Solved! Rat Steals Dozens Of Letters From Brooklyn Home

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn woman who blamed the post office for missing mail has discovered the real culprit.

A rat's nest full of torn-up mail was found under the stoop of her brownstone in Bedford-Stuyvesant, CBS2 reported.

An exterminator says the rat stashed dozens of envelopes there.

It's common for rodents to take all sorts of things to make nests.

The woman spotted the rat while getting her mail.

The city recently announced it will spend $32 million to reduce the rat population by 70 percent in Bedford-Stuyvesant, as well as other neighborhoods in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan.
