Grandmother Dies Days After Fire Kills Baby In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The grandmother of a 1-year-old boy who was killed in a fire earlier this week in Brooklyn has also died.
Borough President Eric Adams identified the woman on Twitter Friday as Alexandra Melo, grandmother of 1-year-old Ivan Paez.
I'm sad to report that Alexandra Melo of @NYCHA's Howard Houses, grandmother of Ivan Paez, has also lost her life from Wednesday's fire.

Paez died in the fire Wednesday, which broke out inside an apartment on the 13th floor of the Howard Houses on Mother Gaston Boulevard.
Five others inside the apartment, including an 8-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, were all taken to the hospital.
"We should not lose any Brooklynite to a fire," Adams said on Twitter, adding that his office will continue with fire safety outreach across the borough.
