Man Held After Thrown Bottle Strikes Boy, 3, In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was in custody late Wednesday in after a thrown bottle hit a 3-year-old boy in Brooklyn earlier this week.

Police had a 23-year-old man in custody in connection with the Tuesday incident, but he had not been charged late Wednesday night.

It all started when a fight broke out inside a deli on 60th Street and Fifth Avenue in Sunset Park.

The fight then spilled out onto the sidewalk and a man tried to throw a bottle at another individual, but missed, hitting the small child instead, CBS2's Steve Langford reported.

The child's condition was not released, but witnesses said he did not appear to be grievously injured.

The little boy's extended family was still at the scene after he was rushed to NYU Lutheran Medical Center.

"I feel bad when I see the baby with his mommy," a witness said. "It's very bad."

Neighbors said Tuesday that the suspect often hangs out in the area and causes trouble.
