Nets-Thunder Talks Fall Through; Brook Lopez Stays Put In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- On Wednesday afternoon, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Nets were having serious discussions with the Thunder about sending center Brook Lopez to Oklahoma City.

But nothing was ever finalized, and the two teams didn't make a deal before the 3 p.m. trade deadline.

Early in the day, Wojnarowski reported that the Nets would receive center Kendrick Perkins, small forward Perry Jones and point guard Reggie Jackson in the potential deal.

Jackson ended up being traded to the Pistons and Perkins went to the Jazz. The Thunder acquired center Enes Kanter.

Brooklyn was also working to move point guard Jarrett Jack in a separate deal, according to Wojnarowski. General manager Billy King reportedly saw Jackson as the Nets' point guard of the future.

Jackson, who is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, was the backup behind Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City.

Yahoo Sports reported on Wednesday that Jackson, 24, requested a trade on Wednesday. He's averaging 12.8 points, 4.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 28.0 minutes.

Lopez, the Nets' first-round pick in 2008, is averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 27.1 minutes per game.

King did make one trade, sending future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett to the Timberwolves for Thaddeus Young.
