Police: Woman Playing Dominoes Shot In The Neck In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) --  Police say a 21-year-old woman who was playing dominoes with friends was shot in the basement of a building in the Bronx, but authorities do not believe she was the intended target.

It happened around 4 a.m. Friday near Grand Concourse and 159th Street. A fight broke out between two groups that ended with someone firing into the basement door, 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported.

Sources say the 21-year-old woman's friends were involved in the fight, Rincon reported.

Her father said when the shooter opened fire, she ran back inside. He said at least one bullet went through the door, striking her in the throat and arm.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

Community activist Sidney Flores notes that the building is just steps away from the borough president's office and the county building.

The investigation is ongoing.
