Suspect In Custody For Fatal Stabbing Of Bronx Teenager

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- A suspect is behind bars for the murder of 17-year-old Carl Ducasse following a fatal stabbing in the Bronx, police said Sunday.

The high school senior was about to graduate this month, but after grabbing a milkshake with a friend Friday evening he never made it home alive, CBS2's Brian Conybeare reported.

Police confirm the botched robbery happened just a block from the family's home on Walton Avenue and 175th Street in the Bronx. The family said two suspects asked him for $2 and when Carl said he didn't have the money, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and plunged it into the victim's heart.

"For $2, he took his life," his mother said.

Dozens of relatives and friends gathered near a candlelight memorial outside the victim's apartment Saturday evening. Carl's uncle said he was a good kid who loved baseball and wanted to be a lawyer.

The suspect has not yet been formally charged.
