NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Three NYPD officers and two bystanders were taken to a hospital after a police car crashed following a chase in the Bronx on Friday night, according to authorities.

Police said a 2005 Lexus, driven by 52-year-old Miguel Martinez, was speeding on the Bronx River Parkway near Bruckner Boulevard around 10:30 p.m.

An officer tried to stop the car, but the driver took the Rosedale Avenue exit and continued through an intersection, police said.

Police said the Lexus hit another car and flipped. The driver took off, but was arrested a short distance away.

A responding police unit clipped a blue pickup truck, and three officers and two people from the truck had to be taken to a hospital, authorities said.

Martinez was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a governmental administration.
