Bronx Man Charged After Woman Found Strangled Inside Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been arrested and charged after a woman was found dead inside his apartment in the Bronx.

According to police, officers responded to a call of a possible crime at 723 East 221 St. in Williamsbridge at around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said when officers arrived, they discovered 48-year-old Alexis Beck, of the Bronx, unconscious and unresponsive in a rear bedroom of the apartment.

EMS were called to the scene and pronounced Beck dead. The medical examiner later ruled Beck's death a homicide, citing strangulation as the cause.

Following an investigation, police said they arrested 50-year-old Christopher Coachman, who lives in the apartment where Beck was found.

Coachman is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree strangulation, police said.
