7 Hurt In Multivehicle Crash On I-95 In Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Seven people were injured early Sunday morning in a multivehicle crash on the New England Thurway in the Bronx.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. near Conner Street in Eastchester. It involved two box trucks and a van.

The van was trying to make an improper exit when it slammed into a box truck that was improperly towing a vehicle, police told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern. The truck then collided with a second box truck.

Four of the five people who were inside the van were ejected. All seven people injured in the crash were transported to area hospitals in stable condition.

The driver of one of the box trucks, Carlos Perez, 63, of Houston, was taken into custody for allegedly not having a valid driver's license.

There has been no word on what exactly caused the crash.

The crash has been cleared and all lanes of I-95 have reopened.
