Police: Man In Critical Condition After Hit-And-Run In Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver in the Bronx who left a man lying in the street, critically injured.

Not only was the crash captured on camera in front of the Deli Grocery, there were several witnesses on the street, CBS2's Christina Fan reported.

On the surveillance video you can see the victim with his arm outstretched. The images were taken around at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday on the 1400 block of Clay Avenue in the Claremont section of the borough.The victim is seen taking a few steps forward, right as a car speeds down the street. The impact sent him flying into the air.

Police said someone driving a black Audi hit the man, who was not in the crosswalk, and then kept on going. A man who called police described the scene to CBS2.

"I hear boom, walk into the street. I saw the guy on the floor. He's bleeding a lot. I'm gonna call 911," Pedro Feliz said.

The victim is a 32-year-old man who Fan learned is a frequent customer at the deli. He is now in critical condition, recovering at St. Barnabas Hospital.
