Police: Man Suffers Cardiac Arrest, Dies In Police Custody In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD said a man died in police custody in the Bronx Thursday evening, after going into cardiac arrest while being escorted to an ambulance.

Police were called at 6:07 p.m. to 274 E. 194th St., in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx.

The found the man, who was described as emotionally disturbed, and took him into custody inside the building, police said. He was being taken to an ambulance when he went into cardiac arrest, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital Bronx, police said.

He was identified as Denis Reyes, 40, of the Bronx.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of Reyes' death.
