Police: Man Held Girlfriend Prisoner In Bronx Apartment For Months

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man held his girlfriend prisoner at gunpoint for months in a Bronx apartment, police alleged Sunday.

It began in August, when police said Richard Rosa, 36, began threatening his girlfriend with a gun and holding her prisoner in their apartment on East 199th Street in Bedford Park.

They lived in the apartment with the girlfriend's children, and Rosa would allegedly hold a gun to his girlfriend's head and pull the trigger – though the weapon never went off.

Police said he also threatened her with a knife.

It all ended at 3 a.m. Friday, when police said the girlfriend snuck out of the apartment and ran to a nearby precinct house.

Rosa, 43, was arrested and charged with harassment, as well as weapon and drug possession.
