Shots Fired As Firefighters Respond To Blaze Inside Bronx Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Shots were fired as a fire burned inside an apartment in the Bronx on Wednesday.

It happened at a building on West 183rd Street in the University Heights section just before 1 p.m.

Firefighters first arrived to discover the fire inside a second-floor apartment.

Police say an emotionally disturbed man fired five gunshots through the front door, but no one was struck.

CBS2 has been told the man was taken into custody and brought to a local hospital.
