Man Accused Of Threatening 'Color Purple' Actress Girlfriend At Broadway Theater

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was charged Monday with stalking and threatening his ex-girlfriend, who is appearing on the Broadway stage in "The Color Purple."

Christopher Horton, who police said resides in Chicago, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Saturday outside the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, 242 W. 45th St., police said.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, stalking, and harassment, police said.

Sources told CBS2 Horton had made several social media threats about ex-girlfriend Joaquina Kalukango, who appears as Nettie in the Broadway revival production of "The Color Purple" at the theater.

The posts were general threats about harming or killing Kalukango, sources said.

On Saturday, Kalukango saw Horton outside theater yelling and alerted security, sources said. Security flagged down officers nearby and he was arrested without incident, sources said.

Horton allegedly had an 8-inch kitchen knife in his coat, sources said.
