Report: Hoyer Leaves Jets Facility Without Contract, Visiting Broncos

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer reportedly left the Jets' facility Wednesday without a contract and will next visit the Denver Broncos.

Hoyer spent Tuesday and Wednesday meeting with Jets officials. Despite that they have not reached a deal with Hoyer, who was released this week by the Houston Texans, the Jets are still interested in him, ESPN's Adam Caplan reported.

Four to five other teams are also interested in Hoyer, ESPN reported.

The Jets have said they would like to re-sign quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who passed for 3,905 yards and a team-record 31 touchdowns in 2015. But the two sides remain at a stalemate in contract talks. New York is reportedly offering Fitzpatrick $7 million to $8 million a year while he wants millions more per season.

The Broncos are also in the market for a quarterback after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler signed with the Texans last month. Denver traded for Mark Sanchez as insurance and later tried to trade for the 49ers' Colin Kaepernick.

Last season, Hoyer played in 11 games, starting nine. He passed for 2,606 yards with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
