Giants Sign Punter Wing To 3-Year, $6.45M Contract Extension

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Giants don't plan on looking for a new punter anytime soon.

The team announced Monday it has signed punter Brad Wing to a contract extension through 2019. NFL.com reported the three-year extension is worth $6.45 million.

Wing, 25, was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates in a trade last season. In his first season with the Giants, he averaged 44.5 yards. While his average ranked just 21st in the NFL, his 33 punts downed inside the 20-yard line were the fifth most in the league.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Wing went undrafted in 2013 out of LSU. He then went to training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles but was released before the season. He signed with Pittsburgh in 2014 and 43.7 yards per punt as a rookie.
