12-Year-Old Boy Shot In Leg On Street In Brownsville, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg Monday afternoon in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Police said the shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. in front of 215 Lott Ave. in Brooklyn, CBS 2's Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

Levon Gilliam Jr. was getting off a school bus when he was apparently caught in the crossfire and shot in the left leg, 1010 WINS' John Montone reported.

The boy was taken to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was treated and released.

Police believe the gunman was trying to shoot another man.

Police released a surveillance image of a suspect Monday night. He was described as a man in his 20s.
