12-Year-Old Boy Killed By Falling Rock At Adirondack Park Waterfall

KEENE, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say a 12-year-old boy has died after being struck by a falling rock at an Adirondack park waterfall in upstate New York.

Essex County Coroner Frank Whitelaw tells the Adirondack Daily Enterprise the boy was with his uncle at the base of Roaring Brook Falls in the town of Keene Sunday when the rock became dislodged and struck the two.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene after rescuers attempted CPR. The uncle was treated for minor injuries.

Authorities say the boy was from Greenwich, New York, but declined to release his name.
