Boy, 16, Charged In Rape In Attempted Rape In Crown Heights

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged Tuesday with the attempted rape of a woman in the stairwell of a Crown Heights, Brooklyn building.

Jadeocus Muhammad, 16, of Brooklyn, was charged with attempted rape by forcible compulsion, attempted assault and injury with a weapon, burglary, a criminal sex act, and harassment, police said.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday, the man approached the 30-year-old victim in the third-floor stairwell of her residence and tried to chat her up, police said.

The suspect pushed the woman to the ground and attempted to rape her, police said. The victim resisted, and the suspect fled, police said.

A surveillance video of the incident shows the man as he enters the building behind the victim and follows her up the stairs. The video then shows the suspect push the woman to the ground and attack.

Moments later, the man is scared off and runs out of the building, CBS 2 reported.
